A dual integrated and sustainability report calls into question the relevance of GELSCE issues at strategic leadership level. The report has structure, but becomes tabular, containing sound-bites of limited value. The general tone is of fairly minimal compliance, supporting bland headline commitments to “corporate citizenship” and “communities”. Where issues have become urgent and important, the company adopts a strong, clear stance in defence of its position and staking out the high ground. However, leadership appears to be reactionary rather than insightful with an eye to value creation over the long-term.
