While reporting appears more mature than SA peers, Growthpoint’s levels of disclosure and clarity of reporting aren’t in the class of UK counterparts. Growthpoint appears to adopt a basic compliance approach to governance, ticking boxes on process, but no offering insight into board activities. While Growthpoint is reportedly invested in a values process, the report lacks a sense of these values appearing relevant in terms of driving ethical behaviour or value proposition.
Good HR report confirming response to the challenge of integrating new employees. Excellent reporting on societal issues around internal equity and societal equity, though scant reporting on municipal relationships, or on empowering small retailers to gain access to Growthpoint’s malls. Green building report best amongst peers with good collaboration with the GBCSA providing competitive advantage. Clear targets and action plans, though not ambitious.
