Harmony
Assessment date: May 2016
A paint-by-numbers exercise, using the framework provided by GRI G4. Doesn’t give the impression that the leadership has applied its collective mind to the real causes that drive long-term sustainability. Apart from the healthcare report, which was outstanding,
Harmony’s understanding of, and response to, the concerns of labour and of its communities revealed a lack of leadership maturity in the quality of reporting. The impression is of a company that allows the industry to lead and follows with blind compliance. In sharp contrast, reporting on environmental issues was clear, relevant, strategic and useful to the analyst.
